The Spiral extends the city into the building. It becomes of the city. The qualities of Melbourne, the parks, the laneways, scale and vibrancy together with her surprises are all legible within the spiral and tower. 

The lifting spiral affords welcoming access to the park at Collins Street and Market Street, maximises park area and raises the public above grade through a sequence of episodical experiences.

The existing ground plane is mirrored about the horizontal creating a new horizon, that of an elevated north facing plane with views to the south. 

The north / south orientation of the tower releases the river back to the city and provides a comfortable and sheltered environment within the park. 

Maintaining a high degree of permeability ensures connectivity across the site, connectivity within the site, and connectivity with the wider neighbourhood.
